The mission of Selected Readings Editions is to give as many secondary school students as possible the opportunity to experience some of the greatest works of literature ever written. Toward that end, we have created editions that contain a selection of representative readings from each work that will provide students with a thoroughly rewarding reading experience. For the high school English curriculum we offer three such editions: “Don Quixote,” “The Odyssey,” and “Huckleberry Finn.” Each book includes multiple enrichment sections to facilitate instruction. We also offer “A Short Anthology of Short Poetry,” a survey of the history of poetry from Sappho and Homer up to Edna St. Vincent Millay and Langston Hughes. Our most unusual book is “I Saw That With These Eyes: Slave Testimony Poetry,” a first-hand account of the slavery experience in the form of found poetry that is available as a free e-book. For middle school English classes we offer Twain’s other masterpiece “Tom Sawyer” and “Don Quixote and My Uncle Sal,” a novella that can both stand on its own and, because it includes excerpts from Cervantes’ novel, serve as a stimulating way to prepare students for reading “Don Quixote” in high school.
